My Grandfather, Alexander Maitland Comb, took these pictures of the 27th President William Howard Taft. The 1911 NY Times article reports on Taft, along with Michigan Governor Osborn, visiting the locks of Sault Ste Marie, commonly called “The Soo”. I have my Grandfather’s cameras and have used all of them, back when film was still available. This is the Kodak camera he used for the Taft pictures. It was state-of-the-art 110 years ago.
